Reminder: Submissions on Clubs and Ranges Closing soon - link in post

If you haven't submitted, please make a comment on the Clubs and Ranges legislation. This is the first go-round in fixing the screwed up laws labor introduced, and the government needs to see that the firearms community is supportive and paying attention to what they're doing.

They treat copy and pasted submissions as all one submission, so write your own.

It can be simple like "I support this legislation" or longer.
General points to discuss (add your own in the comments below to give more ideas)
    - You support reducing administrative burden on clubs.
    - Clubs are run by volunteers and as such, the current laws are onerous and distracting from their primary goal of teaching firearms safety and public education.
    - Other?

    Further recommendations
    - Continue decreasing administrative burden on clubs and firearms owners.
    - Other?

    Done.

If you don't submit then dont complain when you local deerstalkers or clay bird range is closed when the administration of the range becomes so burdensome for those volunteers that we rely on.

    Done mine.

My submission was generally in support. My main recommendation was that Section 6 should be repealed - as the expense of the whole system is simply not justified against the benefits.

I have recommended clarity as to the definition of a "shooting range" and also clarity between the definition and use of the terms "temporary non-pistol shooting range" - the definition is clear but he use in Section 38XD implies only a club can legally operate a temporary non-pistol shooting range i.e. not an individual or any other organisation.
I have also discussed that lack of information (or intentions) published around what the "enrolment" of non-pistol shooting ranges will constitute. My concern is that the compliance work will be unchanged (i.e. same RSO requirements, same range danger area templating system, same inspection and auditing requirements, etc.) but the compliance work will be moved from the government funded Firearms Safety Authority and onto volunteer organisations such as the national shooting organisations.

There's a huge amount in there to process, and some of the possible changes don't appear to be that workable/feasible. I generally support the idea of reducing regulation, but what I see is a lot of the detail is either lacking or being left to interpretation of the regulator. Not ideal...

Done. I agree some of it seems a work in progress and lacking detail but I support it as it can't be any worse than what we have can it?
