    RNZ Article/Fit & Proper

I recommend reading this on the RNZ site this morning. I think there is going to be a serious culling of LaFOs coming and they will use McSkimming's downfall to reverse this directive/decision.

Email to former Deputy Police Commissioner Jevon McSkimming led to arms vetting policy change

This bs is real. After the bs drama with one of our boys. A former fukwit employee from his work tried causing shit and tried to get him fired which didnt work. Looks like this arse hole has now gone to the police and Ive been contacted by fsa as hes considered not fit and proper and have to remove firearms from property. Ive met some cunts in my life but this guy is is a real piece of work.

The key phrase in the article is this... perhaps better to just not Renew rather than risk Revocation and the associated drama that comes with it. They are doing their damndest to drive Firearms underground it appears.

Firearms Safety Authority executive director Angela Brazier said they were currently reviewing the policy around the use of infringement data as part of the "fit and proper" assessment of licence holders.

Sounds like old mate was an absolute muppet on the road. Zero sympathy. Multiple driving suspensions should put you in the category of not fit and proper. Actions have consequences.

The person said they were "extremely big on gun safety".
    Just not on road safety........

When I read that article first thing I said to my wife this will get re-posted on the Forum, a handful of muppets will complain, some will comment sensibly and most will just shake their heads and move on.

    Some "interesting" commentary here.
Fit and proper? Using vehicle driving behaviours as an indicator of 'fit and proper' for the purpose of being granted or retaining a firearms licence.
Was the person who was approached for an opinion (McSkimming) a "fit and proper" person in ANY capacity?

So all police officers are tested to the same standard? I guess having firearms in their cars, without a FAL is bad enough, having the right to shoot someone, while carrying out their duties, means they should at least be on the same, or above a person with a FAL?
You have to have total faith in the police force.

Funny how vehicles are involved in more human deaths in nz than firearms yet you can be unfit and improper and not loose your drivers licence for good the same offences

Surely the fact that he struggled to get one in the first place due to his driving would have maybe imprinted the idea that it best not to get disqualified again, or multiple other times.

The issue in my view is that there is no definition of fit and proper so the FSA and Police just make it up, it is subject to their whim and then they use it as a blunt instrument for force compliance on a whole raft of unrelated matters.

I took time off this morning to go to ns central police station to try and find out whats going on, why is our boy all of a sudden not fit and proper? They didnt know, or wont say. All I can think of is since he didnt get fired from his job this same employee has gone to the police saying he has been threatened, as it seems a wierd coincidence that this has happened straight after the failed story he told to try and get him fired.
