The gravel bottom of this river is that each time I see my GP I have to answer "fine, no problem" to any and all questions regarding my mental health or else my license is at risk
Now how is that a good thing for health outcomes?

Yeah nah, at the individual level (unless you can tie a minister up in your situation personally) the Govt doesn't give a rats ass. They are looking at the statistical modelling, and only when stuff gets so bad that it can't be spun do they care. Nelson is one example, and how much did that mess require in terms of publicity to actually get traction and action???
Speaking of fit and proper, the FSA seems to be having some significant issues: https://www.stuff.co.nz/nz-news/3608...ior-and-junior
A worker at the Firearms Safety Authority claimed she had been asked to do things that were "completely against the Policing Act, employment law and the Public Service Act".
She claimed this included covering up an affair between a senior and junior staff member and helping to ensure a favoured contractor got a job even though they weren't the best candidate.
RNZ earlier revealed a comprehensive review of the police agency had begun following concerns over its workplace culture, including intimate relationships as well as financial practices.
I think Ive told this story before, But many years back after a spate of bad behaviour from police officers, My father, who was In PNHQ, was tasked with finding out how too catch such individuals before they are accepted for training.
While improvements were made, The conclusion was that no matter what job, there is between 4 and 7% of individuals who its very difficult to seperate beforehand until their behaviours show.
Unsophisticated... AF!
That might be correct, but it would seem that there are several Govt entities that have an extremely poor record in separating the individuals that show the poor traits - and seem to actively support and promote them up the ranks rather than sorting things at a lower level. Not just Police to be fair, but a multitude of Govt entities.
It would seem that the issues stem from a lack of oversight and suitably capable management systems and people - and that this results in a massive hit to productivity which flows out over all of NZ. It's pretty piss poor.
My personal and unfortunate experience being forced to interact with multiple Govt entities over the last 6 years. I have had a couple of interactions that went way better than I could have expected - due in no small part to the dedication and quality of the staff I was lucky enough to be in contact with. Most have been an absolute shambles, and it all started before I became aware and I've been playing catch up and unstuffitup ever since with them. Unfortunately, once they stuff up they are usually very unhappy and reluctant to sign off on the necessary fix, and worse - often extremely reluctant to send it up the chain to the people that can sign off on it. You end up going around in circles or in limbo for years in some cases. Not ideal at all...
I see on social media that Western Oz is have a very hard time, even more than.usual with the Labour and Greens inpowere over there doing the same thing.
All about their interpretation of your status.
They get it worse than us and it's not getting better. Even started to do proper rallies at outside their state parliament.
And the WA govt has implemented a size limit on farmers on what firearms you are allowed. If you aren't very big you are only allowed a 22. 50 acres a 223 and over 300 pretty much anything.
