New Zealand Parliament - Inquiry into issues relating to the illegal possession of firearms in New Zealand
Printable View
Oh man that's scarey to read. It basically says We (the law) have no idea how to manage criminals and we're open to any ideas.
How about.... making mandatory castration a punishment for not having a licence? Why not just have it added to your drivers licence to piggy back onto that system. The cops use that all the time so it wouldn't be too hard.
FFS here we goQuote:
What changes, if any, to the current situation might further restrict the flow of firearms to criminals, gangs, and those who do not have a licence.
Police actually prosecuting people who break the law might be a good bloody start...
I will be writing in mine, that whatever they are planning to do, don't do it, and with the money, time and resources spared, invest it into setting up a task force or whatever to investigate burglaries where firearms are taken and to find out who is involved in the illegal trade and go after them through police work. Give them the resources to do it rather than introducing dumb knee jerk legislation that will erode the shooting sports further and not solve the problem.
Also I want to see illegal gun dealers destroyed so badly it makes the offence not worth committing. Create a specific offense around the lines of conspiracy to supply firearms to an organised criminal group. Give them a mandatory minimum sentence for each firearm supplied, and convict them as an accessory for every offense with a firearm that can be traced back to them.
And if you supply 100 guns illegally and get 100 years in prison, we'll that's just too fucking bad for you.
Or just flushed?
The last write up I saw was some guy in New Plymouth getting 60 hours PD for illegally possessing a 303 rifle and shotgun ammo. Cunt reckond he "found" it. It's no wonder the scum aren't worried if plod is too busy snoozing under a bridge with a radar gun than investigating real crime.
I encourage all our members to make a written submission.
Here's a chance to attempt to have some persuasion over possible outcomes for honest, compliant and licenced folk.
5000 odd submissions from the members of this forum alone would be a huge windfall of objective and informed perspective on the matter, hopefully keeping the focus on the issue of gun crime and possession of illegal firearms.
We should go as a group with one good submission pm to all and individually sent?
Thanks for the link @steven ,
That is a fairly easy process to make submission online.
Hopefully there is some level headed outcomes from the process.
Did mine last week, got a reply, and chance to review it 2 days later. Wonder how many submissions have been made so far?

Closes on my birthday, would be a nice present if my submission be came law.won't be holding my breath though.
Probably not quite the right thread but apparently meth and gangs aren't really the big problem they are made out to be and maybe gang members are just miss understood victims as well

Why are 50cals suddenly in the spotlight, maybe thats what the knobs in CHCH running around robbing dairys were carrying.....
Why don't they publish how much a round 50 cal ammo is. That would stop most people in their tracks
