David Tipple in his Select committee presentation told the committee members that in the last 20 years he would have imported several hundred thousand of them. He presented that information in an attempt to show Govt just how much the confiscation was going to cost them.
The Police 'SHOULD' know that is correct. After all they are the ones that isssue all 'Permits to procure'for all firearms legally imported to NZ. And have done so since the early 1930's.
So the Police could have publically stated just how many Permits to procure they had issued for MSSA's since...whenever. But they didn't 'cause they knew that if only a fraction of MSSA's were handed in it would highlight just what a failure the whole fiasco had become.
And the confiscation netted what?, 57 thousand of all types of firearms. An awful lot of them 22's and old shotties/303's and worn out bolt actions.
There must be an awful lot of of New Zealanders that do not trust the Government (any flavor of Govt) and the Police one iota.
.....Just like the gangs
Yeah, based on the gun city figures which only includes imports from that business (so the actual number is much higher), less than 20% compliance
