What the fuk is a challenge coin
It's a military thing - units would give their guys a token that only 'their guys' were supposed to have. It meant that when a guard challenged someone who was walking around the place being guarded, they could pull out their coin and be able to proceed.
It kind of became a collector, souvenir and party-favour thing, as the whole idea was never official as far as I am aware.
So was the gun imported illegally into Nz ?
Without the proper import permit? Mr Patel could be charged with smuggling contrebande :-)

Cripes. 100% bang on there KeyMod. Pretty safe to say the guy would have been absolutely ripped to shreds here if it was reported that he had kept it and it didn't meet FSA rules. So yeah, damned if he did, damned if he didn't (as demonstrated here). Good to see he "did the right thing on a difficult day". The real crime though is that the gun which was gifted, didn’t even work. As head of the FBI, you would hope that sourcing something more fit for purpose would be 101.
The gift was about as tacky as giving him a pair of crocs. It deserved a one way trip down the shitter. Hardly likely to cause a diplomatic incident. For obvious reasons our browny points are sky high with the US at the moment.

Dont know about that....Potentially the 3d printer in their new wellington office was used to make them....Or diplomatic pouch...There was no mention of where they were made and besides, importing a plastic replica or imitation ornament does not require any customs interest except to make sure its not a real one.
