A400 choke changing poi
I have a a400 extreme Unico and using a patternmaster black duck choke it shoots a 70/30 pattern at 35m. I'm now using a factory modified which has brought it back to 50/50. I'm curious to see whether anyone else had similar experience. I originally wondered if it has been made that way to accommodate for abit of drop for when range is getting abit further away. Before pattern testing and changing to the modified I was constantly shooting over the top of close birds but smoking them when they were 40m out.

What is the pattern master constrictm ent.. Is it the same choking as the original.. How did you confirm the split pattern etc.. Obviously same load and did multiple shot pattern boards.. Although it maybe 50/50 on the other choke remember pattern board patterning is 2d..meaning if it was going to hit the board no matter how far the shot string is it will hit it.. Actual shooting the same chokes on live birds etc. You may find that the aftermarket choke may have a shorter shot string.. Meaning more of the pattern gets to the target together.

It is a tighter constriction about 30 more pellets in the circle of the fish and game pattern sheets at 35m. Yeap testing I fired 10 rounds of falcon 35g #3s out of both chokes and results were all the same big change in the poi. I also tried it using 5 rounds of falcon club through both chokes and a factory full choke, same results and the full provided a 50/50 aswell. Still getting good kills out of factory choke more just curious if anyone has had similar results. I treat the shotgun as a reactive shooting style and instinctively was putting bead on the target (plus any lead required) after 1-2 misses I'd then remember I needed to aim low and then usually get it . Hense the change. Now it's a easy point and shoot and a miss is all me

Follow under neath the target. And follow thru

pretty sure you will find stuff all drop at 40 meters...MAYBE its the slightly more open pattern at that range that was helping...I usually shoot better with 1/4 than with 1/2 or tighter....
shooting a Bakail I will shoot high untill remember to drop head down onto stock....decide which choke you like best and stick with it.....fella I know who shoots more geese than anyone I know and a whole swag of ducks too (this fella buys ammunition by the pellet load not box) and he reckons his choke would be stuck in...never changes it....it works so doesnt muck around with it.

Yeap used the factory modified this past season and I was more consistent so it will stay. Yea know a few people who's chokes would be stuck in from just sticking to what works. Sometimes to many options is a bad thing.
