Can anyone explain the rationale behind the copper covered lead shot manufactured by Elley.
I went in looking for some non toxic shot for an older shotgun and was pushed towards this.
When I asked if it was legal over water, I got the nudge nudge, wink wink and was told that it's up for the courts to decide.
Does the copper coating provide any benefits, or is it just a lazy attempt to circumvent the lead restrictions

Laws aside, if all lead shot was epoxy or powder coated, would there be any poisoning issue from fowl or cattle accidentally ingesting some?
I doubt the integrity of the coating would remain 100% intact upon firing let alone cope with being chewed on or being ground-up in a birds gizzard.Quote:

Does copper go brown and rust in water like steel? Leads inert in water?

well....if you shooting rabbits along a river bed with lead...you are fine,BUT if you have duck call around neck,asking for trouble.... I have shot geese with lead on same lake I shoot ducks,outside of duck season I could only be shooting geese...dumb rule but it is what it is....shooting ducks,only carry steel.... not shooting ducks,use whatever you like.
Bismuth... i was after some of that for reloading . But at $55 a kg its insane price even if it is non toxic altenative.
