Hi all. Well, I was about to load up some 12g .690 round balls and what do ya know, I've lost the load data I had which I found online nearly a year ago but after an hour searching can not find. The data was for RB's in a win AA hull and wad, AP70N powder and win209 primer pushing at 1200fps. Does anyone have load data for this kind of load? I do have AS50N powder as well. Thanks

What does your ball weigh?
Then just find any data for a powder you have useing that weight shot, ?
1oz. I did try what ADI had listed for 1oz of shot using AS50N but the test loads I made using AP70N were much better, unfortunately ADI don't have loads listed for 1oz shot using AP70N. May have to stick with the AS50N loads, save the AP powder for my cast loadsQuote:

Thing is ADI only has AP70N listed for slugs and for 1450fps. I had load data for 1200fps. The ADI slug data did make me believe AS50N was too fast but in saying that there's a ton of youtube vids of people opening up factory target loads (fast shotgun powder I presume), emptying out the shot and dropping a round ball or slug with good results.Quote:

I have been using Win AA compression formed hull with Win 209 Win AA12 11/8 wad cut petals to length, 20g felt under 1oz lee keydrive, 21.6grains AS50n. I use this in Rem 1187 slug gun & it goes great on rabbits, hares & possums. I started at 21grains which was nice & light but am now at 21.8grains.

Update: Still couldn't find the data I was looking for but I've recently been offered a Lee 1oz slug mold and some Unique powder, plenty of data for the slug and powder but the data data is only for 1450fps @ 10,000psi, I've love to make a reduced load at around 1200fps with less pressure and less recoil. Anyone tried this?
Why can't you just reduce the charge until you get the velocity you want?
Or interchange data for any 1 oz shot load at the velocity you want?
With a plastic wad it shouldn't matter wether you are pushing 1 oz of shot down the barrel or a 1 oz slug.
@Bob Da Browning. What colour are the 1 1/8 wads? I've pick up a 1oz Lee slug mold and might try you recipe. Any idea of the velocity? how was the recoil?Quote:

the wads I used were White, without the felt base I had the indentation like yours. Use a felt/cork base & trim the petals back to the shoulder of the slug, this improved the accuracy of mine heaps. 21grains felt like 1200-1225fps (just cycling the action on the Remington 1187) & 21.8 feels like 1300-1330fps (feels like the fast trap loads I use & blows up rabbits great at 50yds). I use a fold crimp. I shoot Trap & Skeet so compare recoil & speed to the pattern sheet, at 50m the with 21.8grain the slug goes through the wooden pallet & folds the waratah in half almost cutting it off.
@Bob Da Browning thanks for your input. I did have some homemade cork nitrocards but didn't use them, Pushed the slug slighty too high up the hull and couldn't get a decent foldcrimp. Was that 21 grains of AP70N?Quote:

@Bob Da Browning I tried 21gn of AS50n, still kicked a bit. I shot a three shot group @ 50m, two hit 2" apart but one hit 5" low, possible flyer or something wrong with load. I tried a reduced load of 26gn down from ADI's recommend 28.1gn, recoil felt a lot worst, knocked the wind out of me a bit but a nice 2" groupQuote:
