Welcome to the forum minneguy. Peacocks are quite a deceptive bird to shoot with their tail feathers making up two thirds of the length. That said forum member Nibblet head shot one with a 308 at 460 yards on my property.
It takes 43 muscle's to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger pull.
What more do we need? If we are above ground and breathing the rest is up to us!
Rule 1: Treat every firearm as loaded
Rule 2: Always point firearms in a safe direction
Rule 3: Load a firearm only when ready to fire
Rule 4: Identify your target beyond all doubt
Rule 5: Check your firing zone
Rule 6: Store firearms and ammunition safely
Rule 7: Avoid alcohol and drugs when handling firearms

No video but witnesses. Personally I reckon it was a fluke as he never called it.

What loads do you guys use for shotgunning peacocks? That's a big bird, and if have to imagine you use something pretty substantial. Thanks for the information, it is so interesting to see hunting in another country, I can't wait to come over there and experience it

    G'day Minneguy.

All you really need is a shotty for the Peacocks and a 308 for the Stags.

Oh and a sense of humour if you want to hang around with these guys............... besides there's nothing wrong with oiled up fat chicks.

It's the Bush Pigs you want to avoid.

    Cheers

HI i hunt peacocks often have stalked them and used a 223 but we would usually use shotties and hunt with a dog they really do stay put and wont flush until the last minuite a semi auto with 3s or 4s and quarter choke works and we dont loose any .

Minneguy peacocks tend to be something that just gets culled when there are too many or too noisy.
3 shot will do the job with a shotgun, but a rifle is just as common.

Red deer will depend if you intend to do it yourself and get what you find or go to one of the guides and potentially shoot one of the tame ones.
Ditto with Tahr, except there are no tame ones of them

    And welcome to the forum.
