Nikko Model 2500
Hello Lads ,
I have inherited a shotgun from my wifes Grandad. As the title says its a Nikko Model 2500 , 12 gauge 2 3/4. (over/under)
I can not see any visible chokes on it so I assume its fixed chokes. Now I don't know Sweet F all about shotguns , chokes and the likes . Its the first shotgun ive actually owned. What I would like help with is , Is this shotgun able to fire steel through it ?
Do I have to take it too a gunsmith or a hunting retailer with a competent gun retailer to give me some advice on it.
I am going to ask the grandfather what kind of shot he was firing thru it but he is a bit of a grumpy bugger so hopefully I catch him on a good day!
He didn't give me any ammo to compare with.
Any help would be apricated .

Pretty sure It will be either half and 3/4 or 3/4 and full choked. Nikko were a very good make they made winchester guns under license at one stage
It will be about 35 or 40 years old so not for steel.
I'm not familiar with the 2500 model but owned a 5000 20 or so years ago a fine trap gun and good for ducks as well.

Forgot to add take the barrels off and the choke will be stamped on them, either full or impmod or impm, or imp, imp mod which is full, 3/4 and 1/2, 3/4 respectively

I have taken the barrels off and no marking. Only the serial number and the letters AD but I think its part of the serial number.

It's still good for rabbits, paddock shooting etc
