    Trap gun recommendations

Hey everyone. So 35 odd years ago I used to shoot dtl trap and a bit of skeet, with reasonable success sometimes . Im thinking id like to give a go again.
Whats a good reliable gun new or second hand to look out for. ?Had a Franchi trap gun once , but thats long gone.
Also , what barrel length and chokes , if the gun doesn’t have screw ins. In thinking 3/4 and full??
Ps , I dont want to break the bank😂
    Cheers in advance.

Some of the nicer U/O turkish guns come with choke tube's if you wanted to buy new and won't cost a fortune.
As you will be firing trap loads there should be no issues with them but the more modern ones are perfectly capable of shooting game loads fine.
There are often second hand U/Os on trademe that would work well as people often replace them with semis with longer chambers for ducks.
I shoot a semi for skeet and a U/O for DTL as that suits me better and I find a Semi on DTL a pain.

The most important thing is that it fits you and you can get a good eye picture.
Pick up a few at your local gunshop and see what fits you best.

    What's your budget?
Plenty of used miroku's around for $1500, or there abouts, best value for money guns on the market,
They leave any Turkish guns for dead. Older 2nd hand berreta 's next best.

You are in Chch- I would suggest popping out to McLeans Island Shooting club (formerly NZHA) on a tuesday when they reopen after the break. There are a lot of guys out there shooting Skeet and DTL that know what they are talking about. Have a look at what they use, and possibly even try some of the club guns...

I had great success with an Akkar Trap gun, it was almost always the cheapest gun on the line but shot as well as any of the top guns there, even won some provincial HOA with it.

Trap shooting reminds me of motocross, huge amounts of money will only give a minor and inproportionate advantage.

Exactly, we have a guy who turns up occasionally with a Baikal side by side with the "correct number of triggers" and he's won B grade club champs in skeet, gymcrak, single barrel and single rise much to the annoyance of the Beretta brigade. He's 5 foot 6 the guns got 26 inch barrels and it fits him like a glove. The other gun he often uses is a greener gp and he rarely needs a second shot. Fit and function over form and appearance wins every time.
