I’m interested to know what under and overs people are using for ducks and general bird shooting - and your thoughts on them.
Ive got a M2 semi auto but looking at adding to the collection.
Quite like the look of Miroku M70 but interested to hear from anyone that’s been using an U/O for a while and how its gone

I owned a Miroku MK70 for duck hunting. Beautiful gun. Shot well and good choke system. Unfortunately, it didn't suit my style of hunting which mainly consisted of sitting it out in a ghille suit on small ponds with opportunities for shots few and far between. Traded it in for a bubba real tree camo Browning Maxus. Happy with the decision, but sad to see the Miroku go. If the gun is a good fit for you and suits your style of duck hunting, you won't go wrong with the Miroku. They were $2000 which was good value in my opinion.
LOVED mates SKB.....brother has a lamber thats pretty good.....but nothing beats the Russian mistress......bog std Bakail u/o single trigger....half choke first barrel,tighter than Nuns nasty the 2nd.....loads less than 35grms its all good.
I have the older version of the Mk 70 ( 7000 ) also had the fore runner to the Mk 10 (9000) I think that Miroku is highly underated here in NZ, sure you can have a Citori for more money but it was probably made in the Miroku factory anyways.
I have shot the M7000 for maybe 15 years, no issues, its a 20 G and that suits my main style of pheasant hunting where you need a quick pointing gun. Its been great on ducks too when i shoot opening days.
The 7 series only falls behind the 10's and such with the no frills approach ( non moveable non changable trigger shoe, no palm swell )
The 9000 I had was a beauty and went to a forum member IIRC it was mostly a sporting clays gun and too nice to bash about in the truck chasing roosters.

Seems to shoot well, shooter not so well.

I ve ben using a beretta 686S 20ga and 28ga combo for over decade. Love it. Never used steel in it though. Have been collecting bismuth for next year.
I also have the Miroku Model 70, bought mine due mainly to a Post from MB a few years ago talking about his, managed to get one with a factory adjustable comb and in a story to mirror but the opposite to MB I Traded in a Maxus on the Miroku.
Still have Semi Auto Gun but really like the Miroku. I've threatened myself many time to upgrade, but really, to what, it works perfectly and I think looks not too bad either.
Use a Beretta 686E. It is a light gun so after about 20 3 inch shells I'm not so keen to take the next shot due to the impending bruising. I expect I am going to change to a heavier Browning Citori.
I will be looking for Tungsten shot for next year 2. I gave up hunting ducks when the stee shot rules came in and moved to only hunting upland game.Quote:

Had some great feedback thanks everyone. Leaning heavily towards a Moriku MK70.
Will do a bit of shopping around and see if any dealers will do a post Covid deal!
I too have a miroku MK70 grade 5 20ga. For the money you can’t buy a better gun in my opinion.

I have a Nikko Shadow for $600. Google them ,they were the cream of the cream and it still is. The workmanship that has gone into it hands down ls the best Ive seen. Only selling because of health reasons, other wise I would hang on to it, trust me on that one.

Price is $500 sorry about that, a better bargain eh. If you go into my profile you will see Nikko U/O for sale with photos. The guy who I was holding it for said he wanted it , came out and looked at it and said he would take it. Just had to organise payment. I chased him up over 3 weeks looking for a follow up. He finally got back and said thar an Uncle had given him a gun so mine was not needed. Sheeze where are the ethics and a Mans word is his word, sad days ahead. Had another buyer as well who I turned down as well. Cant blame someone for saving a dollar but keeping communication open would of been a great help.
$500 for a good U/O is a more than fair price....

ive also got the sexy wee russian -bought from C404 who had it bored to 1/2choke both barrels.shes a luvly cuddly wee beast -like dolly parton shes full on which i like .2/3/4"steel up to 36gm load will deal with anything from clays to geese.ive also got my ever faithful escort 12g s/a (which some high faluting arsewipes luv to denigrate) which is more my specialty go to goose gun .others a bentley pointer 12s/a and gameking 12g SXS the first type of shotty i ever owned. dontforget too -the russians build very robust agricultural weapons designed for hard useage and nil complaints unlike som of our itite prima donnas ,who seem to keep aperpetual smile on the gunsmiths face!Quote:
