Hi Eeebeees, i hope you dont mind my asking: whats the situation on docking working dogs in NZ? Here in germany hunters are the only ones allowed to have their dogs docked, and only some breeds. Makes sense depending on the terrain you are hunting in. Where i hunt there is an abundance of wild blackberry and raspberry bushes and i witnessed one dog ruining his tail so it had to come off... the poor lil fella was completely shocked and inable to communicate properly afterwards...besides having had lots of pain.

Here, like many places now, the antis don't want any hunting, and are by nature anti-docking.
I'd love to drag their sorry asses out into the heavy cover and whip them around until raw. :pissed off:
@picapica, our Accredited Tail Dockers can still dock puppy tails of historically docked breeds, however this will, should the bill be passed, cease in October 2018 ... dogs that are docked within 72 hours of birth have no problems 'communicating' through their lives ... this communication aspect is one of the nonsensical reasons people will use for the banning of tail docking ...
Couldnīt agree more. I had 2 Teckel, so no docking required, but where i hunt we have a guy with two german wire-haired and they are of course docked...watching them chasing through the brushes... docking definitely required!
