    WARNING ALGAL BLOOM...it gets worse

I know we have discussed this before but PLEASE everyone be utterly vigilant in this...another dog has been lost due to the toxicity...cattle have been lost from drinking in farm dams...stagnant troughs could also be harbouring the bloom. Even with veterinary treatment the likelihood of survival for dogs is unlikely.

It would appear that until we have significant rain the situation is not going to improve.

Did some work on the maimai yesterday (balloted lagoon), and found a fresh dead duck floating in front of the maimai. Eels hadn't yet got to it. Water stank, and I know the nearby river had a dog die after visiting it. My son's dog drank from the lagoon, and seems OK today. How quick does this bug kill?

My do got poisoned last summer , pretty sure was from algae in river . It came on real fast but by the time I realized he was real sick ie frothing at the mouth and panting , he came right . Very lucky dog I'd say . It was a real hot day and I thought I would do him a favor . Didn't realize the river would be contaminated . I now avoid any steams with low flows and ponds
