So I've been told that my dog is not purebred. But I don't mind because she's a very good retriever, but what do you think my Labrador is crossed with?
Here's a video of her

Looks like a black huntaway.
He didn't stay still long enough for me to see Sean but I can tell you what it's not. It's not an albino pussy cat.
He's an awesome looking dog Sean.
Good on the retrieve too
Cheers
Pete
Looks like hes been crossed with a bit of missile in him. The black bugger can move :)
She is Ace
Bloody good dog well trained bitch by Sean @Danny delivererd her last year to Taupo for pick up.
We got her off Seans uncle that breeds labs but my opinion and a few others say her nose is too long for a pure breed lab.
Doesn't matter what she has in her trained right, she will do the job and has proven it.
Here is a few still photos of Ace which are pretty hard to find.:DAnd some moving:thumbsup:

Mr Andy Jones imported dogs from a line of English Ladradors that were not the big chocky blocky type so often seen ... I remember him telling me how some of the Labrador trialists were somewhat scathing of his imports ... when I saw them I thought they were beautiful and truly fit for purpose ... sadly Mr Jones passed away some months ago ... an officer and a gentleman ... his office walls were festooned with magnificant fotos of his dogs ... all that to say, @Dundee, Ace looks very like those of Mr Jones...
Well for a kick off, why would you give her a blokey name and for seconds what has a long nose got to do with anything? You've got short legs Dundee but we don't say you're not a pure bred. Whatever you do for Chrissakes don't tell her she's black. You can't go saying that to people (or dogs) these days. Oh and no need to shout. You bloody near deafened me.
Is an Ace higher than a Queen in a poker game? There's a song in there somewhere ... know when to hold em, know when to fold em ... oh forget it!!!!
Looks like a lab to me? See plenty of longer muzzled ones at the trials
Dig a hole 6 ft deep , place 1 steak pie & 1 moro bar in bottom , fill with dirt . If your dog finds items , its a 100 %Labrador
...and roll on the lab jokes
Yep that'll sort it"
I knew it was a lab from dundees first pic. Look at her, lovingly gazing at that sandwich :D
Go @Sean and Ace...
Pure hunting dog!
Looks like a working Lab to me. The tail maybe hints at something else, but close enough!
Andy Jones (Awesome good bugger and mate of 30 years RIP) did focus on the working strains as does Eugenie Clapham, Chris Hill and a number of others these days. The Labrador is, IMHO improving again. Bloody good to see!
This is one sired by one of Andy's dogs.Attachment 69747
Why would that man backhand that dog? With what looks like considerable force also...;)
It looks like a lab to me. I have working labs and they do not meet the breed standard, but I know genetically that they are labs. Attached is a photo of my youngest dog who is 14 months old. Most people ask me what my vizsla is crossed with. Attachment 69754
ace is a good looking well trained hunting dog sean:thumbsup:,don't worry what any body say's about her. alot of guy's pointed out my dog's where not pure had no dog or dog's that where worse then mine
Pedigree dogs are awesome and have several advantages for specific purposes. Cross's still have their place and should never be looked down on. A good one is as good as any pedigree. Second best dog I ever owned was a LaxXGSP and was a machine. I wished I knew back then what I do now.... she'd have been even better! Attachment 69768
I know this is getting a bit airy fairy, but to me often the best measure of pure breeding is between the ears. I have two dogs of a working type here, that are separated on the pedigree by 100 years and thousands of KMs, yet because they have been bred to do the exact same job for that time they are remarkably similar in temperament and personality - you would think they are closely related yet they are not. So don't get hung up on what it looks like Sean, the true test of pure breeding is in what it does, what's between the ears.
Funny how true this is, yet mutts SOMETIMES can smash a pure at their own game.
As a young fella I had a lab X, yellow mutt. It was the meanest holder you'd ever see, deer were to easy. Ducks? Her training was we went out opening, I shot ducks she bought them back in perfect condition, and cause it was a river there was some very long retrieves especially when there was several down at once. Could scull a beer better than a lot of guys I know.
Pure breed whippet turned into a stunner once she realized she wasn't gunshy. Best whippet? possibly.
Pip the pure whp, she is now a good solid rabbiter. But fuck, it's been a long road.
Jack, who would know what his breeding is. He's foxy size, jack russel/bullheaded/wanker arrogant cunt attitude and the best rabbit dog there is. He has shown some flash as springers etc up after they have done a block.
Pure or X doesn't matter, what you put into them is FAR more important. Time on the hill at the right time in their development, lots of time right then. And every dogs is different.
my late JJwas a lab x-crossed with what -=IMHO-a bloody d8 bulldozer! a more laid back clown il lnever meet ,but jesus h christ he had a dark side-He locked up with sons pedigree staffy "munta"- ibroke a hammer handle over his swede and i broke a fucking toe booting him in the ribs before the big bastard let go.
people used to love the big goon -whats his breeding...........me coming from a family with more than a passing interest in throughbre/d horses
"hes by Roamin Catholic x Opportunity..one daft old duck wanted to ow if I stood RC at stud:ORLY:
he was 53.5kgs when we mercifully sent him to the great playground in the sky-even the vet said -shes gonna take a big dose with this boy!
he definitely had lab looks although his bloody great 6" hawser tail had retriever characteristics according to my bro whose a vet.fuck it hurt when he thumped you with it!
very strange this very same dog would get up if daughters birman cat whomIsuspect is angled parked in the parallel universe wanted to lie in the sunny spot, and the oter bloody cats used to use him as a step to climb on the couch!
same daughter and partner got a mad blood aussie lorikeet -batman"ring ring ...hello...fuck off......Batty batty booo.....-this crazy little prick if let out of the cage would waddle across the lounge and perch on JJs swede -JJ as usual would carry on snoring his big swede off.
gadget/TR/C404 GSPF all met the big hump!!
