    Doberman bailer

    Hi guys,

I have an entire Doberman, he is almost 3yo,
Really good dog, very pleasant mannered and a great guard dog,
He enjoys coming hunting, we have shot goats at long distance and it’s been fine, he is not gun shy.
The other day he took off after a goat and bailed it up, and he had it bailed up for about 3minutes until I was able to get down to where he was and shoot it.
To be honest I was impressed, but I’m not too sure on whether I should encourage this behaviour or not?
I don’t want him taking off from me into thick gorse chasing goats.
But i must admit it was good when he had it bailed up for me as it had been a long day in the sun looking for them.
Is it possible to train him to become an indicator dog or am I best to put a tracking collar on him and just go for it?
all advice would be greatly appreciated thanks!
