Dog Bedding
What do you guys with dogs use for bedding?
My 2 GWP/Lab X pups have destroyed their 2 beds I given them so far. (Both sleep on the same bed in the same kennel)
First 1 was a foam double bed size folded in half with bean bag outer - lasted 1 month before they turned the foam into snow around the yard, and the other I only just bought them last night.
It was a bloody expensive bed as well. Got home tonight and that 1 is all over the yard now. :pissed off:
So much for hard wearing material!
It's not as if the pups don't have enough toys and bones to chew etc.
So what do guys give your dogs to sleep on?

In the kennels- straw
Anywhere else they've got beds from hunting & fishing that have done well

That H&F bed is the sort of bed I bought for them last night and they've gone and destroyed it.
Maybe I 'll try some straw in their kennel now.
What sort of straw? Feed Hay or Pea Straw?
-
Yeah I just grab the leftover hay out of the barn. I've used barley straw (I think it was) in the past.
I put it in their boxes loose, kinda fluffed up, and they burrow in and make a nest.

I use straw as well . It breaks down so I add some more every couple of weeks . If your kennel has a door that goes all the way to the floor , you may have to screw a 100 mm block/ board across the bottom to stop straw coming out. Dogs are not supposed to eat in the kennel as apparently straw is tuff on there insides .

The kennel doesn't have a run. Kennel hut (double lined though) only.
Got some freezer room door plastic strips over the entrance so is real nice and warm inside.
Feed them on the deck near the house (only place out of the mud at the moment what with all the rain we've had).
Might have to nail on a lip to the entrance before I get some hay/straw.
Cheers guys. Appreciate the help.

I have bought 'working dog' real jute sacks filled with wool for my lot produced by a local wool buyer...they are spot on, in fact I think they would be nicer to use that my $300+ sleeping bag...if I could only get the dogs off them!! $25.00 each...

They sound like quite a good idea EeeBees.
How big are they? Where did you get them from?
-
+1 for the straw. He makes a little burrow in it, easy to top up and change if need be.
Inside he just has a woolen blanket folded on top of a cheap $25 giant fleece thing from the warehouse, just to put another layer between him and the cold wooden floor. He is not a couch dweller - only allowed on the mat inside :)

No bedding. harden up flea bags

Don't like to admit to bedding the occasional dog but back in the day shit just happened eh!

Thye old boy has straw, much cleaner than blankets, both in smell and controlling parasites. I fill it right up and he makes his own nest. The young one just pulls it all out anyway and plays with it so I don't bother
