My grandfather had one for years, I still remember a story about an encounter between it and a neighbours German Shepherd which apparently had a nasty habit of sneaking around behind people and giving them a nip on the ankle... tried it on him once and landed on its back with an much faster than expected Irish Terrier at its throat. Kept a respectful distance after that.
