I have an old bitch at present that struggles to get up on the quad but occasionally likes to come out on the farm. She's sometimes useful as her bark from the back of the quad is quite motivating to slower mobs. The new boy is energetic and enthusiastic but lacks the nuance for moving some mobs and won't bark at them. Barks at me, the quad, old bitch and passing cars, but not cattle. His predecessor I had to give away as a pet at 2 years old, as although she was a gorgeous dog, really intelligent and well trained, she didn't want anything to do with cattle. So poor old bitch had to do the training all over again with another puppy. I hope new boy works out OK because old bitch wouldn't last a third trainee puppy. But at some stage old bitch will have a date with a bullet and a hole in the ground.
