I and my wife and kids bawled our bloody eyes out when we had to put our German Shepherd girl down. In fact I bawled more then than I did with either of my parents passing. That's not to say I had more grief for our dog, just it was different and with my olds I think I was able to keep a reasonable stiff upper lip whilst with the dog it just all came out which probably is a damn sight more healthy than the stiff upper lip. And it is just not about that moment of her passing, it is about all the memories of the girl thru different stages of my life – like kids growing up around her etc. Something that even with a replacement dog I will never experience again. My sympathies to you.![]()
