I need to save my spiel as this topic comes up at least once a year.

You don't need books, the trick is obedience, obedience, obedience.

When you've got that down pat do more.

If you have a dog with hunting instincts that part sorts itself out. You need to be in control of your dog at all times and the rest will fall into place.

My dog is average because I don't use her as much anymore but she still stays 3-5 m in thick stuff and further in more open country. We hunt as a team but she knows who the boss is.

Practice that and you'll be right.
