Thread: When to retire a dog?

Hi all,

My dog has just turned 6. I recently spent some time with family where they have a dog that at 9 has crook cruciate ligaments and can't really do a whole lot.

When have people on here retired dogs, provided they are still healthy but just old?

I'm hoping to get at least three or four more years of hunting with mine yet , he's certainly not showing any age or ill effects on the hill but I want to make sure I get those years if that makes sense.
