From old to new
A mate of mine from Palmerston North picked up this old 80+ year old head that was apparently shot in the Ruahines. He asked me to tidy it up a bit and i said no i can do better than that!
Scored 303" and 4/8 douglas, 41.5" long

You have even got antler colour back to more natural look.outstanding effort.
-
Antlers were covered in shellac that they did in the old days so the tines were all yellow and yucky. That got all scraped off

Looks awesome as always mate

Well done a head well worth restoring

Unfortunately the history behind this stag we dont know, if anyone has any info on this that could help solve this please let me know.

Nice work , that’s how a top red trophy should look , beautiful

Looks more of an Otago head than Ruahine. Might have been a HB hunter that traveled south. Awesome head, great work in keeping it preserved.
