Thread: Carbon arrows

I just received a dozen carbon arrows. Details are 400 spine, 0.003" straigtness (typical of hunting shafts, and far straighter than my caffeine addled body can handle!), 852mm OAL including 100gr field points and plastic insert nocks.

The arrows weigh on average 385.8gr. Now, here is where it gets interesting... the standard deviation between the dozen arrows is less than 0.1gr. And I weighed them twice, to be certain.

They all spin true, and the arrows appear to be very well put together, the vanes feel like they are made of quality material... in short, a dozen really decent arrows.

Why I'm posting this is because they are from AliExpress - the brand is Accmos, and the dozen cost me NZ$58.01delivered to my door. That's less than $5 each... The cheapest I can get a dozen arrows locally is $150 delivered (EK brand, which is just as Chinese as Accmos).

AliExpress is under rated I feel, a lot of what we buy as “good” brands still come from the same Chinese factory they have just been through more vigorous quality testing generally, if you’re will to take a risk of getting a dud then most of the time you’ll find a good deal. Thanks for the heads up on that one brand.

Remember, it's your hand/forearm you risk when shooting the Cheap Chinese Product...

@caberslash - said hand / forearm is at risk when I shoot with any arrow.... including Easton, Gold Tip and Carbon Express. The Accmos will be checked before each shot, just like any other arrow.

most carbon arrows are made in china, i shoot them out of a 70lb bow though i have had to onockit down to 60 for club rules. never had a faliure yet. even when i hit a wood frame alli got was 10mm of splinterring.
biggest faliure was a usa carbon job years back, total disintergration upon firing.

I have had arrows from china via eBay, and generally of a high standard carbon.

I was adjusting my draw one day in my house, concrete block wall, I had an arrow mounted as I tested the draw so as to avoid a dry fire, and you guessed it, I slipped and the arrow left a 1" hole in the concrete block wall.

Arrow was wrecked for the 1st inch but other wise OK

Most carbon arrows are made in China and rebranded by US companies whether they tell you that or not..

Which ones? Not Gold Tip or Easton. Carbon Express gone to the dogs now but used to be good (from Korea).

@Sidney - definitely! I believe Easton is the only major brand still manufacturing arrows in the USA, and that they import their carbon.

I've been useing Accmos arrows from ally express 300spine 6.2mm and im about 20 deer down and not a problem at all im definitely not going back to expensive arrows any time soon.

Arrow Affliction arrow - a dozen came with my Topoint T1 package. They have been absoluyely fine to shoot. No issues until this one... Cracked because of a Robin Hood... they are obviously quite consistent!

At least you can see the arrow is stuffed - I understand that carbon fibre arrows can be quite dangerous if they’re cracked and you fire them unaware.

Yep. Ask any fisherman who has lightly tapped a carbon rod - especially the very high modulus ones - against a boat, only to have the rod snap on the next big one. Carbon doesn't take well to lateral impacts. Flexing the arrows before shooting usually sorts out the issue, letting you know. In this case, I flexed it, but it didn't make any noise, because the damage was behind my hand, but when I nocked the arrow, it wouldn't hold the string, so I fortunately took a closer look.

Another cheap Chinese carbon arrow failed me. Damn...
