Thread: Recommendation for broadheads?

What broadheads would you all recommend? Beginner archer here so I don't want to break the bank as I'm likely to lose them. Looking for the Honda Civic of broadheads.

Terra firma gladius are really good. Recently shot 5 goats with them, no breakages at all. Reasonable price. A bit trickier to sharpen though. Kayuga Old school are also a good head.

Those Kayuga old school single bevel look pretty good.

I just bought the cheapest mechanical ones from my local archery shop - ended up being grim reaper 3 blades - they have a training head so you don't need to use the real deal when you're tuning (although I find they fly very similar to my field points anyway)

grim reaper 3 fixed blade broadheads i think they have 2 and 1/4 inch cutting diamter or something I shot at a deer with my only sharp arrow and missed all i had left was the arrows that had been put through my target many times and were extremly blunt but at 50 meter is still went through both sides and stuck out a fair way the other side through both lungs

Recurve or compound?
Im a stickbow user so no mechanicals for me, I like the old school Zwickeys, Tuskers and Stingers.
Simple blades, easy to sharpen and they flat out work.

I'm a firm believer in the fixed blade broadheads. One less thing to go wrong and they've worked well since the first ancestors started shaping pieces of flint into points.

Personally had good results with the Helix single bevel and kudu single bevels. Straight pass throughs only with a 70lb compound, fracturing clean through scapula when I've hit them.

Ali Express version of the G5 M3, good for starting out. Only shot goats so far but won't hesitate to put one through a deer.

Also have slick tricks as well.

I used the Helix FJ2 for a number of years - pricey, but reliable however have just spent a winter with Northern Broadheads wide cuts 125gr. $70 for a pack of 4 and pretty accurate. A little softer than the helix, but they certainly do the job

Check out what that scruffy young fella up Kaikoura on utube is using....NZ.wild adventures??? Hunts with wee arty the dog. His sure seem to withstand a hammering.

I use NAP Thunderheads 100 Grain and they work well for a range of big game. And I have a 2001 Honda Civic that runs like a dream.

Plus 1 for northern, shot everything from goats to bull tahr with them. They go through everything. More effort to tune over a mechanical though
