I shoot trad, but suck at photos! Currently 51lb recurve (ILF, CF limbs), 57lb Hybrid Longbow, 63lb Hybrid Longbow.
Nice @Remote,
I have been practicing with a Samick Sage 40lb since last few years now. Got a custom 50lb, 58AMO r/d longbow made by Big Jim in USA, yet to see it as it was delivered to my wife in NZ. Which Hybrid longbows you have and do you hunt with your trad setup?
I shoot a Bear Super Kodiak 53lb, and a Black Hunter 60lb, yet to take an animal but absolutely loving both recurves. Victory CarbonTrad arrows with the Super Kodiak, and Easton Gamegetters paired with the Black Hunter and both bows firing them like darts. Will post photos in the weekend.
Must say I've learnt so much from watching "the Push" on YouTube
Nice taste on the bows. Super Kodiak everyone knows is a classic, but tbh the Black Hunter is a phenomenal bow, even at 4x the price. A bloody talented bowyer came up with that design. I have 3, but in longbow format. Cannot believe the speed and point-and-shoot performance I get out of the things, and I have some pricey bows.
I have a lot of Hybrids:
30lb Bodnik Slick Stick for training
50lb Bodnik Slick Stick
55lb Black Hunter (57lb on the fingers, hunting with this but for boar not deer)
2x 60lb Black Hunter (63lb on the fingers, will be hunting with one soon, other as backup)
My main hunting bow right now is an ILF though, just because I'm going down a carbon-foam and aluminium heavy mass rabbit hole, just to say I've done it. Like shooting off a launchpad. Enjoying myself, getting great groups, but my heart's still with the wood hybrids and always will be. Not a good idea in this country to take a heavy bow on the long hikes, up and down slips, climbing through what most call jungle.
Big Jim makes some broadly loved bows, from what I hear. Have my eye on one myself.
Nice Billbob,
My first bow was a super Kodiak 60lb which I picked up from Ebay US. It was a great bow but I soon realised my mistake of getting too heavy bow. Could not even come to full draw.
Is the black hunter you have is this one https://www.mandarinduck.net/product...AaAm5WEALw_wcB
Yes,Push archery guy has some nice videos on YouTube. Another good channel is Clay Hayes (Same guy?)
Will wait for the pics of your setup.
Henry make some good bows. Never heard anything bad about his bows and 30years warranty is like cherry on top. I am thinking about Shrew or Toelke as my next bow, next few months to decide. One of my mate had a ILF setup with an aluminium riser, I just could not get the right feel with metal in my hands neither could he. He moved to Toelke and bought a Pika and Whisper and I picked up Thunderchild
I am yet to see my Thunderchild but whatever pics my wife sent me, it looks like a dandy one. Its a takedown so getting in and out from hunting grounds will not be an issue. Can fit in a backpack. Hoping to get it in my hands in coming months.
