Shooting with the Southerners

Kiwi Greg and Veitnamcam called into the ranch on the way back from viewing naked sheep at Brads.:D

I put the options to them,trout fishing,bush,pub or shoot some steel. They chose to shoot steel.

Conditions were going to be tuff at all of the options except the pub,a howling westerly was blowing of the Ruahine Range and blowing straight across our firing line. The quads were loaded with rifles and we headed to our shooting range.

Kiwi Greg and Veitnamcam were waiting here while I set up the steel plate at 207 yards away.

After seeing the dirt fly up from around the plate and taking the wind into consideration we proceeded to kill steel.

More shots were fired with constant hits with the big calibres from the South.

Satisfied with this Kiwi Greg walks over to inspect the plate.

Next we set up at another position with a plate just stuck in the dirt at 455yard.The wind from this position was whistling straight off the Ruahine Range and into our faces.

The conditions were very difficult with hits either side of the plates several times.It would only take one hit to knock the plate over. And Veitnamcam offered me a couple of shots with his rifle.First shot went right a bit,so the next shot I fired was aimed to the left and this knocked the plate over,finishing our shoot.:cool:

We went back over to the plate where Kiwi Greg dug out a projectile from the hill.
The Southern lads had one more place to go before heading back down to the Mainland so handshakes all round and they were off.:)
