    Coonan .357

My mate bought this some time ago.Its a Coonan pistol in .357,the build quality is pretty good and although expensive I think it's worth the money.

It comes with two recoil springs, one for 357 the other for 38 special.Accuracy was surprisingly good with S&B FMJ in both 357 and 38.It fed and fired some pretty soft 38 reloads too.

All in all its an interesting peice for those that enjoy different firearms.I would happily carry it in the field hunting or bear defence.

You can only carry a pistol when hunting where there is a threat from Polar Bear attack.Otherwise Pistols are only allowed for target shooting and practice.

You can practice anywhere it is safe to do so however.

I hunted with a Pistol in Alaska and wore one pretty much whenever I was out in the wilderness.I dont particularly like revolvers and the Coonan is about as big an autoloader you could wear and it not get in the way.

Yes,you dont have to own the land if you have permission or its public land and you are conducting your practice in a safe manner.

Its not the same in New Zealand because the Police relish control over all things Gun.

Coonan is out of business it would seem. They suddenly closed and a company auctioned off all their equipment. There is still a web page up saying they will be back, but that has been up for a while. They also made FAL receivers and towards the end of the business, the quality had gone downhill substantially with a lot of complaints from what I saw on the FAL Files.
