Thread: Removing front sight from margolin .22

The Margolin front sights were a shrink fit. To remove then you need to disassemble the elevating system, hold the barrel in padded jaws, quickly heat the sight ring with a torch then tap off with a brass punch. The object is to heat the ring quickly to expand before the barrel heats up and expand as well. I used to have a pair of aluminium barrel blocks to hold in a vise which conducted barrel heat away. Speed is the key!
