Did this round ever get popular here? Or was it a flop.

Its only "popular"in Aus because they cant shoot 40S&W. So all the IPSC standard shooters have to run sig

Thanks @Ozzy it's quite a different looking round, for pistol. Is recoil similar to 38 super? For anyone that's shot it.

not the .357Sig but one of my shooting mates used to shoot a 9x25mm in an "open" class gun it was quite potent.
Similar idea, 10mm Auto necked to 9mm so larger powder capacity than 357Sig

Its essentially a 40S&W with a 9mm projectile, and will be loaded for IPSC major. So 170-180pf. I haven't shot one, but talking with a few of the Aussies at worlds and australasians, its a real bitch to get running right due to the odd shape.

I really can't see any reason why you would want one here, you'll spend half your time troubleshooting it, and when you actually get it running right, you can only shoot it as Minor in IPSC, as the minimum bullet diameter for major is 10mm. It's only in Aus that they have a specific rule set that allows it.

Std guns .40 used to be minimum calibre for Major power factor.

Open class it was anything goes as long as you made power factor. When I gave it up 9mm loaded to major power factor was becoming popular but was really hard on gear and a bit finiky in mags to get good feeding.

Correct, Open has lower power factor, and smaller accepted bullet diameter. Standard is minimum of 10mm diameter for major.
