That has always been that the pistols may be carried to and from your residence to a recognised pistol range, a licensed firearms dealer, or a Police station, and shall be carried in a 'lockable container'. The material of that container has not been specified, nor is it specified that it shall be a 'locked container'.

Glove-box is a lockable container, as is the whole vehicle. Sorted.
