Looks like we didn't too good a job and putting our views across if the summary contained in the paper is correct.

    Page 4
"We received and considered 13,062 submissions from interested groups and individuals. We heard oral evidence from 22 submitters at hearings in Wellington. Of the submissions we received, about 60 percent supported the bill, 26 percent were opposed to the bill, and 14 percent expressed another view."

    We're screwed!

    Re C cat:

We consider that provisions for the secure storage of a vital part should be included in the
principal Act. Therefore, we recommend inserting an additional condition of endorsement for
bona fide collectors of firearms into clause 31, to require the removed vital part of a
prohibited firearm to be stored at a separate address, which would be regulated by the
    Police
So.... give the vital part to the police?

Their mind on this law was made up well before any submission was put out. This has been an agenda for on the cards of the govt/police for a while, unfortunately Tarrant gave them more ammunition (no pun Intended) then they would ever need to follow through with a Arms Ammendment Bill. We were screwed as soon his trigger went click. Even if we had 100k submissions opposed to the bill it wouldn't do anything. We can only accept what cards are played now and thankfully they stopped at mssa and the reclassified mssa firearms. It Sux, but its jus a big ball that's gonna roll over top of ya.

politicians love percentages.......so if some wet wipe calls you and asks if you want to do a survey on politicians (preferred pm and which party etc) say "why yes id love to lose 5 minutes of my life" and have your say .....cuse if they see their percentage rise or fall they hopefully will act accordingly because thats how shallow they all are

@mjmatsen no the SKS is a prohibited firearm because it is a centrefire semi automatic. There are no exceptions for centrefire semi-autos

It sucks indeed, we can now only hope the buy back scheme is fair and reasonable, not just the rifles but parts as well, but I doubt that. they cannot even give the teachers and nurses a samll raise in wages.
