Aus buyback - any firsthand experience ?

Any Aussies on here who can shed some light on how this worked.

How close to real market value were the prices they paid out ? Just found some macro figures saying 650k firearms bought at roughly 600 mil Aus, so around 1k on average...

What about parts, spares, AR specific tools etc, optics etc ?

Suck if you spent $2500 on an ACOG for example. No use for anything other than an AR. I spent a thousand bucks on a safe for my E. Be nice to get that back if I don't need it anymore.

My father handed in a ruger 10/22 and a couple of other semi auto shotguns, he came back home and still complains to this day about getting nothing worth while out of them.

I wonder if we can refuse compensation and then sue in court with a class action?

Be a bit of a fizzer for them if the deal is so rotten that a few thousand FAL holders just say no thanks, publicly. Only works by consent of the masses. Loss of thousands of dollars of possessions is a bit rough to swallow IF that's the deal

I have been in one ban already - when UK banned pistols. Got full market price plus accessories incl ammo, spent cases etc. Bought more rifles with the money. I have the feeling semis will be gone here soon, So can only hope we get paid GC prices!

IF..... a buyback happens they could pay a fair price and reissue to the armed services (talking about AR type of course) and would probably save some money in the process.....
but of course we all know if there is a buy back it will be a shit offer ..
just to clarify i dont have any semis, but i do see a valid need /use for them
