Come to our home to collect firearms in broad daylight is disastrous to us

I really don't like the idea that the police will come to our home to collect the firearms, no doubt they will come in group and with AR15s on their shoulder, by doing that they just exposed we have firearms in our hosue and sent an open invitation to gangs & thieves. The goverment has just made all of us a target. This directly threats the safety of our entire family, but I guess they just couldn't careless about it since they've got everything they wanted, SWIFTLY. what the hell we have done wrong to deserve this? Is this what we get by paying tax and being law abiding? what a joke!

What is more worrying is someone illicitly posing as the crowd tasked with collecting them. I would expect a phone call to arrange a mutually convenient time and the actual collection process to be quick and quiet. Whether it happens this way might be a bit different....

Express this concern to your mp, it is i think very valid if you live in town and have kept a responsible low profile re firearms till now. After all this was done in the interests of "public safety" wasnt it.

Perhaps we should do a convoy to Wellington and leave them on the steps of the offices of the Union of Soviet Socialist Ratbags... heavily padlocked.

Perhaps we should stop hitting the panic button and act like fit and proper persons.

Just called police 0800 asked this specific question, I was asked to fill out the online form first, then arrange this when they call back, they don't know at this stage if there is an alternative to home collection. I guess we just have to wait and see then.

The 0800 number is a rental call center that knows literally nothing. They told me I would receive an email where I got to choose pick up or drop off. I got this email two days after I got the call to have them picked up.

The cops are being very proactive but are trying to be nice about it. I guess that will depend on what type of cops you get. I was told they do not want people bringing the guns to the station but I insisted. I met a cop I know on the road a while back and we pulled up for a yarn and the dogs went off, so I am cagey about them coming round and at best getting my boy muzzled. I have now jacked up with the same cop for him to come visit in uniform and help me get my dogs familiar with cops.

Based on my experience I would not be in any hurry until they sought their lives out. They are already coming door to door without an invite, so its a bit of a risk.

You are right, there is both an element of judgement in some neighborhoods and an element of risk in others. They are making people anxious in a fashion that is disturbing. They should be bending over backwards to be delicate with us.
