Government disclosure regarding the law changes

Arms (Prohibited Firearms, Magazines, and Parts) Amendment Bill – NZ Legislation: Disclosures

Here's some publicly available information about it from the disclosure.legislation.govt.nz website. It days it is intended for public scrutiny and to inform the laws but I'd never heard of the site until now.

    Of note is this.

    Pdf file of it.

    http://disclosure.legislation.govt.n...t-2019-125.pdf

    "Extent of impact analysis available

2.4. Has further impact analysis become available for any aspects of the policy to be given effect by this Bill? NO

2.5. For the policy to be given effect by this Bill, is there analysis available on:
    (a) the size of the potential costs and benefits? NO

    (b) the potential for any group of persons to suffer a substantial unavoidable loss of income or wealth? NO"

Sobering stuff. No analysis on costs or benefits. Or for making sure we are not out of pocket

This is what you need in your submissions. They won’t care about your 3 gun or service rifle sport. It’s this stuff, benefits and cost.

Yup. Facts from overseas would be of use. As they're saying international vets practice etc

Question to modern politician: Can we do this?

Standard answer: We HAVE TO (extra emphasis on emotion).

Question to modern politician: We need to give blood transfusions and all we have for donors are these stones?

Answer: We HAVE TO (extra emphasis on emotion).

    Relevant international treaties
2.2. Does this Bill seek to give effect to New Zealand action in relation to an international treaty? NO.

    But Yes.

    External consultation
3.6. Has there been any external consultation on the policy to be given effect by this Bill, or on a draft of this Bill? NO
Due to the time constraints external consultation was not possible.

Rather, the timetable of this legislation is fast to deliberately ignore "firearms lobby" input.

This is how NZ rolls. It's always been a socialist country - even John Key was slightly to the left of Karl Marx, and the Veiled Skull is way past that. They don't need input from the electorate - That Ozzie fuckwit gave them a mandate. And anyway, they know best what we need.

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.
