Historical international precedent suggests that it's not unwise to fear the worst.

International president is the current origin of our laws. Laws created in the interest of the local people is the dreaded populism. So I think the concern is justified. Having said that never underestimate the kiwi politicians ability to confuse everyone and come out with a strong stance that actually does not affect anyone and keeps all voters on side.

I agree gimp and I think the fears are Reasonablely justified
However its people’s reaction is nuts
There’s quite a few on here making themselves look like knobs

If you have a semi enjoy it relax and wait for a real Announcement not rumours before reacting
    Is all im saying

Knobs is your attitude not theirs. I agree the people selling up are jumping the gun. I will take my chances with what the govt will pay me and run the risk of the grinder.

The veiled skull said "In ten days....."

Straight after 51 people were murdered in a church.

I think it is really coming this time. The real question is how bad will it be? At best, recategorise A's as E's, at worse, you've got three months to hand them in and there will be NO financial compensation.

Well, the politicians have all been scrambling to proclaim their support for changes to firearms laws, even multi-faced Peters who has lost any remaining credibilty he had with me; so I'd say a little paranoia is valid. They reallyARE out to get us.

Indeed, they really are out to hang us to make them look good, and to cover their total incompetence in the first place. WHAT we have done wrong??

I don’t think they are out to get “us” 99%of us are honest Beautiful kiwis
And its the 1% that ruin it for all of us the issue is the government has no way of knowing which 1% that is
So unfortunately the other 99% of us come for the ride
They don’t want to do anything to us the issue is they have to due to the 1% fuck whit out there
If they could 100% grantee that there is no chance of a fw or nutter makeing it though or sidestepping the system then im sure there would be no reason to change or even have laws in the 1st place

    Knee jurk reaction

Hopefully we can keep our E cats but as time goes on my hope is fading.
Government is not talking to the likes of COLFO, pistol NZ etc.
The A cat versions are definitely history.
The government will have to do a buy back, they wonít have much choice in the matter.
Some have significant $ tide up in guns.

I am already preparing for the worst eyeing up what I can replace them with.
Maybe some more Precision type rifles to compete with, another nice lightweight hunting rifle and something shiny for the wife.

Well I for one am looking forward to the announcement to come, I know what I would like to see happen.

Speculation is a waste of time and energy, I will also happily comply.....I just hope it goes far enough to prevent this kind of occurrence ever happening in this great little country ever again against anyone.

100% agree with you on all of the above I think if a semi can be justified for a certain reason then you should be able to get one
However acat once’s will most likely I say most likely as we don’t actually know yet be gone
Which imho is a good thing i saw so meany kids (16) is still a kid imo 1st rifle ar15 something wrong There
But if you’re an Experienced shooter and you can justify one I think you should be able to have one
