    New offences and enforcement

    from: https://www.police.govt.nz/advice/fi...bited-firearms
    New offences and enforcement

The Act also contains a number of new offences and penalties including the following:
    • unlawful possession of prohibited firearms, magazines, and parts
      • So beforehand, a non-FAL individual could purchase magazines, so holding those regardless of FAL is illegal?
    • using or intending to use a prohibited firearm to resist arrest or commit offence
      • Pretty sure that was always illegal
    • unlawful possession of a prohibited firearm in a public place
      • What if you need to get the bus in to take your prohibited firearm to the police?
    • presenting a prohibited firearm at another person
      • Pretty sure presenting ANY firearm at another person is illegal, is it not?
    • possession of a prohibited firearm while committing any offence that has a penalty of imprisonment for 3 years or more
      • vs with a non prohibited firearm?
    • carrying a prohibited firearm with criminal intent
      • Or carrying ANY firearm with criminal intent?
    • importing prohibited items without a permit
      • Pretty sure importing any firearm without a permit is illegal?
    • knowingly supplying or selling a prohibited firearm or prohibited magazine to a person who does not hold a permit to import or possess one
      • NOW we are worried about people getting magazines in the wrong category......
    • using a prohibited part to assemble or convert a firearm into a prohibited firearm
      • Same would go with the MSSA category wouldn't it?
    • knowingly supplying or selling a prohibited part
      • What about unknowingly? As the law is clear as mud

Each offence should also cover non prohibited firearms. Could say it is a start. Mandatory sentences for firearms crime has been asked for for a long time.

Much like our electoral laws. Hundreds of breaches, only one private prosecution that was proved to be lies.

What if you commit the above acts with a rifle you're legally entitled to own. Is that not an offense?

Have they put up mandatory sentences for gun crime? I read somewhere they were bragging about "up to 5 years" etc. sounds like what we already had "up to a something..."
We all want to see "minimum 5 years inside" So the judge can happily put the sub human shit inside and make an example out of a few. That should deter a lot of gun crime.
    Use enough gun

You're just being silly now. Can't possibly expect them to walk Scott free, they'll have to be given a paid taxi ride home. Any more lenient and it will be to the airport for a 2 week paid vacation in a tropical paradise.
