Well.. seems to be be all semi centre fires gone...

The scary one is how they’re going to classify suppressors... they seem to be on a “prohibited” list... so I’m now a crim...

If they banned suppressors there will be a far bigger outcry from firearms users, I'd hazard a guess 75% of hunting rifles in NZ are now suppressed.

Two of my rifles (short barrels) would be unusable without the cans.

Correct me if I am wrong but if a firearm is used in commercial situation it needs to be suppressed as part of health and safety... Or do we all need to use earmuffs when we go hunting?

I have most of mine suppressed as I do a lot of shooting with dogs... (If it hurts mine it must for them)

The way it is worded though, it's only the suppressors that make them into semi or fully auto.

Yeah, every one of my rifles is suppressed.

Not all semi centerfires, just the ones with more than 5 shots.

Surely there are internal ,magazine centerfire semis that only hold 5 or less shots? ( I dont know as I have never owned any centerfire semi)

    From the Nash press release

    What are the new prohibitions?

Prohibited firearms include semi-automatics and MSSAs; and shotguns with detachable magazines or internal magazines which hold more than five rounds.
Prohibited magazines include those holding more than 5 cartridges for a shotgun; more than ten cartridges for a .22 calibre rimfire weapon; and any other magazine capable of holding more than ten cartridges.

I read that as ALL semi auto rifles and detachable mags holding more than 10 shots for anything.

Despite the original release that some centerfire's with 5 shot mags would still be OK.....if they are all indeed banned then that is pretty unfair to those who need the softer shooting action of a semi-auto rifle.

What was really needed - making all 7+ centre fire magazines E-cat only. Anyone in possession of those without endorsement need to surrender them, get compensation for a 7 rounder.

The handed in mags could be reused, resold, or recycled.

Guess how much that would cost? And achieve pretty much the same thing.

Right now it looks a bottomless whole with pretty much everything (and pistols will be considered for "stage 2") are being banned.

200 million buy back? Try a billion for starter.

They weren't factory mags and took a lot of modification to fit, including removal of all the standard mag housing. Haven't seen one in 40 years.
