WHY would a Sporting goods store make this statement

    https://tinyurl.com/y6y8kplw

This store has today clearly stated in a NZ wide broadcast email to their client base, that ...

".........There is a lot of confusion (both inside the industry and amongst shooters) of what the legislation change is.
Currently, the only change is Centrefire rifles and shotgun that can take a Detachable magazine holding more than 5 rounds are now e Cat..........."

We all know that the honourable and widespread 303 SMLE is a centrefire rifle with a detachable magazine holding more than 5 rounds"

Do they know something that we do not or are they just adding to the confusion?
    veitnamcam and sightpicture like this.
It was a confusion of ideas between him and one of the lions he was hunting in Kenya that had caused A. B. Spottsworth to make the obituary column. He thought the lion was dead, and the lion thought it wasn't.

No, it's a bit of a slip. They are right that the only change is to centrefire rifles with detachable mags holding more that fire rounds but it's just worded really poorly. Should have had the A-cat bit in the front of 'centrefire'.

any mag that is not .22 ( .22 can hold ten) can only hold 5 rounds. doesn't matter if it's fixed or detachable. all 10 round .303 mags are now MSSA.

The goal post on this keeps shifting. 5 rounds in a semi is now gone. Basically all centrefire semis are now gone, shotgun semis are okay with non detachable mags and 5 or less in the mag.

Any other rifle ie a bolt action...be it centrefire or rimfire... must have 10 or less round capacity in the mag.

That's how it stands today...tomorrow who knows, some fucktard will change it again.

"There is no other change to A or E cat rules - this means .22 semis with mags up to 10 rounds are still A cat, pumps and lever actions haven't changed, and semi centrefire rifles/shotguns with internal magazines (non detachable) of up to 7 rounds are still A Cat"

    Okay I'm officially confused.

My man, the legislation says 6 rounds for pump action shotgun, 5 for semi shotgun, 10 for semi .22 and every other magazine is capped at 10, including bolt actions/SMLE.
