257weatherby liked post by Flyblown On thread : Night shooting on private (rural) land: notifying District Police HQ
I’m the only shooter in our valley and if there are shots, the old neighbours will say “oh that’s him again” as they all know me, I have their permission, I always phone ahead and in the past they’ve...

257weatherby liked post by JoshC On thread : what's the best 2 man tent for hunting?
Macpac Micro or Macro. Genuine four seasons in our terms. I've seen both hold up when MSR's have shredded and a hillberg snapped poles. Macpac's came through totally unscathed. If you plan on...

257weatherby liked post by r87mm On thread : Exactly how illegal is it to shoot C-Cat guns?
There is a way of doing this without getting in any trouble. Dress yourself in licra , preferably with a number on your back and shoot while riding a cycle. You can't get done dic on a cycle, you can...

I would have expected that being in your position you would be a little more subtle than this. You know it is illegal to do what you're suggesting, yet here you are on a very public forum that is...

Thats like asking if there are degrees of dead, ie mostly dead, partly dead, doubly dead. Dead is dead. Its also an interesting follow up question after asking for a private place to shoot.

257weatherby liked post by Max Headroom On thread : I wasn't seriously expecting to hit it.........Fluke shots.
Tell us about your fluke shots. The ones where you took a potshot at something moving too fast or from too far away and dropped it, to the astonishment of all and sundry, not least, you. The only...

I have just joined the Hutt Valley deerstalkers this week, if it’s true it’s full of grumpy old men I should fit right in.

257weatherby liked post by Bagheera On thread : Advice for first centrefire rifle
Tikka is a good choice. Howa is heavy and people have trouble with the stock being flexible. Has a reputation of shooting well (as does the Tikka). The .22LR is for technique practice. ...

I used standard T3 rings on my 300 win mag and 308win for years and never had an issue with them. I also used a 270win for 20 years with no suppressor (ear protection when on the range of course) and...

I'd suggest we hunters need to learn from this & change our thinking and actions. Yep, you are right the Nats had 9 years to make changes & in regard to these and lots of other issues it was not...
