    This straps onto you, I used it with the 45/70, rifle is untouched, mine all have steel butt plates.

    I tried the Pachmayr Decelerator on my 7WSM - it was no better than the factory Model 7 one. I think a Limbsaver would be a better off-the-shelf option.
