   Yes it does dissipate it faster but due to the flutes there is less steel there so it will heat up quicker. A fluted barrel of the same diameter nonfluted will be less rigid and will heat up quicker...

    Have you tried any other brands of ammo? Could be that your gun just doesn't like the Super X, or perhaps the particular projectile loaded into it. Winchester Super X wasn't particularly flash in...

    75 Amaxs seem to be popular, yet to try them in my 223. Tried some factory ammo loaded with 69smks, seemed to shoot as good as the usual 55gr loads. Put holes in my 6mm steel targets at 100m though!
