If it’s bedded well already then the lines of the metalwork will be parallel or match the lines of the timber If that’s the case then remove some of the barrel channel

I would remedy it mate. 1 sheet of paper aint enough. If you hang a can on the end of the barrel or even fit a bipod, its going to contact the wood under recoil.
