take enough gun, big tough animal. i have shot a few but i would never attempt on with 223 etc. some may disagree but i hate to see an animal run away wounded

Yes, they have no safety, but after you load and close it you have to cock the hammer. I use this as a kind of safety by only pulling back the hammer when ready to shoot.
