Did the same exactly but with a side by side shortened the barrels by 6 inches and fitted express sights. A poor mans double rifle. Shoots both barrels inside 2 inches at 50 yds. Deadly for goats.

Rub cooking oil on them and wrap in glad wrap then freeze. When they thaw they need a couple of days to dry out.

I use a 6.5 06 with a 20 in barrel. No trouble with 400 yd shots. Using 100 gr tsx's at 3300.
