BSA270 liked post by brad On thread : Identifying yearling hinds
To answer your question about identifying the difference between a hind of breeding age and a yearling. The biggest difference is size they will be smaller than an average sized hind in the area....

If the deer are a problem and they want them gone or reduced then I would shoot whatever stands in front of you. If you can shoot the hind and fawn then great otherwise I wouldn't lose sleep over it...

BSA270 liked post by Brad S On thread : 16" vs 22" barrel noise level
Why do you want a short barrel 30-06, aren't there calibres more suited to short barrel? Like 308

308 liteweight 22?” barrel noisey but bearable. Win. 308 18” quite a bit noisier, ok for 1 or 2 shots at a time. Bergara 16.5” barrel offensively loud and a flamethrower. Bergara wears a suppressor...

I don't have any actual data for you, only anecdotes. I have a .308 with a 14.5" barrel and it's so offensively loud that even at the range when testing it unsuppressed and with everyone wearing...

BSA270 liked post by Pommy On thread : .243 velocity with 90 grain bullets
Your logic is sound. There's no speed without pressure. If you're getting above book velocities with a shorter barrel than they used, the chances are you are above the amount of pressure they got...
