If you can only have one rifle for NZ hunting then the .308W is the best all-rounder preferably with the 1:10 twist rate. My humble opinion but my personal favourite is the mighty 7x57.

If it won't shoot the Sako 50 or 55 grain Gamehead Softpoint, it's time to sell the rifle. Sako .222 and .223 has a very solid reputation for being spot on, they produce their own bullets for this...
