I have used them on public land, but usually in little tucked away spots (not on ridges, etc). I have only had one photo of another hunter. I've had heaps of good photos, including some of a fallow...

The Glonass system is Russian, most modern GPS's use both systems. Apparently the Glonass satellites are better at higher N and S latitudes

The system was crap for civilian users during Desert Storm as well. More recently my father found the GPS in his camera wouldn't work in Libya.

By the strict wording of the legislation, they do not comply, but somewhere on the police website they say cable locks etc are considered trigger locks (I'll try to find it again and post the link)....
