Aperture sights are awesome. I have almost more iron sighted guns than with optics now.

Open sights are under rated for close range and snap shooting in my opinion, but they can't compete with the holographic style sights.

Have talked to a local gunsmith and he's going to look at the gear for me and see what can be done. Probably get him to cut the acme threads on the screw brass nuts as well since they are pretty worn...

Was lucky enough to pick up a 1951 Colchester Mascot cheap a few years ago. Same model I learnt on during my apprenticeship in 1979:ORLY: Would turn Cat D8 idlers for rebuilding bearing journals...

Even 30 metres is a long range for most air rifles unless you’re getting a reputable (expensive) brand.
